CW Buys Treasure Hunter Drama, Couples Comedy
The CW is joining the treasure search trend this development season with Golddigger. The project, from Bill Haber’s Ostar Prods., focuses on a youthful female treasure hunter who tracks lower items for a number of mysterious and interesting clients. Lauren Horowitz is writing, with Haber and Stephanie Germain executive creating. With Golddigger, the CW is placing a youthful female twist on the genre that's been pretty hot this pitch season. NBC bought an untitled adventure drama from John Glenn. Referred to as Da Vinci Code meets National Treasure, it focuses on a youthful NYPD beat cop who, together with his family and buddies, embarks upon the finest treasure search in history. NBC is also developing an up-to-date version from the 1984 action-adventure romantic comedy film Romancing the Stone, whose plot began having a romance author performed by Kathleen Turner getting a treasure map.
