'Footloose's Miles Teller: The Following John Cusack?

Among the best reasons for the brand new 'Footloose?' That funny guy who plays Willard. Miles Teller ably fills the cowboy boots from the original Willard, Chris Penn, but still handles to create the part their own. He's also drawing evaluations to some youthful John Cusack and Vince Vaughn and it has just wrapped a film either might have starred in in older days: '21 and also over.A Much less shabby. Works out Teller never saw the initial 'Footloose' -- "I am not really a large movie aficionado," he confesses -- but he did occur to see a number of co-star Andie MacDowell's movies and informed her while filming that they was his first crush. You initially performed Willard inside a senior high school play. Yeah, which was the very first play which i ever did. So could it have been a benefit starting this? Absolutely. I'd an entire gone with it. I understood the storyline of 'Footloose,' not through another actor carrying out it, but in the text. And So I arrived to it having a strong first step toward things i wanted related to the smoothness. However I had been more physically suitable for the smoothness. After I made it happen in senior high school, I had been like 5' 2" and 115 pounds or something like that. However, you had the attitude? Yeah, I'd the large boy attitude. I am sure you've already heard millions of occasions just how much you resemble Chris Penn, the initial Willard. Yeah, that is what I have been hearing, that is fantastic. This is a great compliment. I really haven't seen the initial. I have seen some moments from this, and so i type of know Penn's undertake it. However I only agreed to be excited to revisit this character because I'd a lot nostalgia connected by using it. Just focus and shoot the only person within the cast who had not seen the initial movie? Yeah, I believe so. Most likely among the only people on the planet. [Laughs.] Honestly, I am not really a large movie aficionado generally. The only real movies I own is most likely the Indiana Johnson trilogy. That which was probably the most different about creating the film, versus doing the work like a stage play? Well, in senior high school, I had been singing, since it is a musical, so that's different. So when Used to do it in senior high school, I had been the small guy and Ren was my cousin who had been, like, way larger than me. So when I'd end up like, "Hey guy, you need to fight?" I am sure it had been more comedy because I had been this little bulldog having a mouth. However in that one, clearly my knowledge of acting was a bit more in-depth, and so i guess that is what I introduced into it, a much better brain. What type of dancer are you currently in tangible existence? If there is a live band playing, then I am during my element. And you are a music performer too. Yeah, I have performed drums in bands since i have was 16. What's your take in route the tunes were refurbished... wait, would you know the initial tunes? Yeah, because Used to do the musical. But are you aware the tunes around the '84 movie soundtrack? I have heard a few of the new versions. I have heard the Blake Shelton. I have heard Victoria Justice's 'Almost Paradise,' that we think is excellent. 'Let's Listen to it for that Boy' is fantastic. Best song within the movie. [Grins broadly.] Since it is Willard's large moment. That song is usually a good time. Honestly, I possibly could hear that song for that relaxation of my existence and I'll always smile. You'll always be connected by using it to any extent further. Yeah, I really hope so. [Laughs.] This is actually the first factor I have seen you in and that i believed that your accent needed to be genuine. I was raised inside a southern town in Florida, so that's legitimate how a number of my pals talk. And also the original accent which i did was too southern plus they stated, "We can not understand a factor you are saying." After which Laray Mayfield, the casting director, she's from Tennessee, and [director] Craig [Maker] comes from Memphis, so that they wanted me to really make it a bit more twangy. Andie MacDowell explained you help remind her of John Cusack. Is she here today? Yes, she's. Oh, I've not seen her. Andie, that's awesome. Has she seen the film yet? Yes, she stated she really was impressed together with your moments, so you have a fan immediately. She was my first crush in 'Groundhog Day' and 'Multiplicity.' Does she know? Yeah, I informed her. She stated if she was much more youthful, she'd have reciprocated. That's interesting that they stated that about John Cusack. I recieve that constantly. After which this last film I done, they stated I had been approximately John Cusack and Vince Vaughn. Todd Phillips [whom Teller just labored with on 'Projext X'] really in comparison me to some youthful Vince Vaughn at some point. That's awesome originating from him. What's happening next? Are you currently getting a myriad of offers? Yeah, I'm benefiting from. I simply wrapped a film yesterday known as '21 and also over.A That's in the men who authored 'The Hangover.' It's their first movie they have directed. It is a comedy about our buddy's 21st birthday celebration. It is funny. That do you play inside it? I play among Justin Chon's pals. It's his 21st birthday and that we increase to surprise him and that he states he can't venture out because they have this large school of medicine interview the following day. And I only say, "Well, that isn't gonna happen." You are that guy. Right, I simply tell him, that's bullsh-t, let us have venture out for any beer and something beer results in ... after which it comes down to us looking to get back. It had been a lot of fun.
